Project: Nobska Maritime Museum & Lighthouse

Lighthouse Overview:

Restoration of the iconic Nobska Lighthouse in Woods Hole. Preservation of the Historic Interior and Exterior. The Cast Iron Rings on the Lighthouse Exterior, wood windows and
doors were also preserved. Original Brass Porthole windows were restored and weatherized to last for generations to come. Lantern windows and door hatches were restored to their original glory and preserved to withstand the salty coastal air.

Lightkeepers House Overview:

The exterior envelope upgrades included new roof shingles, sidewall shingles, insulation, doors, and windows. The interior renovation included reorganization of the existing rooms to provide proper pedestrian flow through the museum, new handicap accessible restroom, new historic wood flooring, as well as new lighting, HVAC and ventilation systems. The first floor was renovated to create the public museum space. The second floors were restored to create office and storage space for the museum staff and volunteers.

The site was enhanced to provide a new driveway and handicap parking area, an accessible walkway with interpretive graphics leading from the parking to the Keepers House and Tower, a patio/viewing area connecting the two buildings, a new septic system and plantings, and restoring the original views out to the Vineyard Sound by removing invasive plantings and installing new site appropriate landscaping.
