BLF&R Selected for Nobska Light Design Feasibility Study

Nobska

Brown Lindquist Fenuccio & Raber Architects, Inc. is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected to conduct a Design Feasibility Study for the Restoration and Reuse of the Nobska Light from the Friends of Nobska Light. This exciting project will include the assessment of the condition of the Lightkeeper’s house, the Tower and the Garage, as well as a handicap accessibility evaluation, and a Schematic Design for envisioned renovations and reuse of the overall grounds.

Nobska Light, located along the shore, just east of Woods Hole was established in 1828, and until recently had been under the possession of the United States Coast Guard since 1939. In March 2016, the Coast Guard transferred responsibility for the lighthouse property to the Town of Falmouth, but retained ownership. A license agreement passed care of the buildings and property of Nobska Point Light to the Town of Falmouth, to be maintained by the Friends of Nobska Light for the benefit of the public.

The Coast Guard will continue to maintain the light and the fog horn as aids to navigation.
