Multi-Family Housing

Project: Mendes-Monteiro House

This new 7,775 SF single story building provides an affordable home for adults with disabilities, with a goal for residents to age in place.  The building contains six independent apartments as well as a congregate living wing with 4 bedrooms, a common kitchen, living and dining space.  The entire residence is staffed 24 hours, 7 days a week giving the residents care and assistance as needed.  All units have handicap accessible bathrooms.  In addition 2 independent apartments, and the congregate living space, are fully handicap accessible.

An additional feature of the property was the restoration of an existing pond by removing invasive species, enhancing the native plant and animal habitat, and creating a walking path around the perimeter which also has benches for residents to enjoy the space.

The project was funded by the Dartmouth Community Preservation Committee, the Dartmouth Housing Authority and by Low Income Tax Credits through the MA Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC).

The project will be Enterprise Green Communities Certified.
